Get outside! Bath is full of green and open spaces, small or vast, short or a quick potter, perfect for family time, exercising the kids, going for a walk or a run or just taking in the sights. Here is our must see/try list of the best parks in Bath:

1 – Royal Victoria Park

The biggest and arguably the best park in Bath. Vicky Park as it’s known to the locals, boasts a large play park suitable for all ages, with toilets and a café plus plenty of open green spaces if you’d prefer plenty of quitter areas if you’d prefer to find a place to sit, picnic or potter. From the centre you’ll pass the Royal Crescent too, which is always, always worth viewing.

2 – Sydney Gardens

Sat behind The Holburne Museum, Sydney Gardens is where the railway track meets the canal meaning there is lots to see and lots to do. It’s also home to The Bath Carnival in the summer and installations throughout the cooler months.

3 – Prior Park

A National Trust park and open to members only but take a peak from the beautiful Skyline Walk instead. It’s home to one of only 4 Palladian Bridges of its design in the world with gardens designed by Capability Brown.

4 – Parade Gardens

A small entry fee will buy you deckchairs, bandstand, ducks and an unrivalled view of Pulteney Bridge. The Parade Gardens often has themed topiary too amongst its beautiful shrubbery and is great central location for a quick lunch or place to meet.

5 – Henrietta Park

Just a short potter from Laura Place and Great Pulteney Street is this quiet shady park. Perfect for an afternoon snooze on a picnic blanket with your chosen one.

6 – Alexandra Park

You will get a breath-taking aerial view of the city from this park, just a short bus ride (or steep walk or challenging run) out of the centre. You’ll find a small play park there too good for younger children. Surely the best view from one of the best parks in Bath!

7 – Alice Park

There is something for everyone at Alice Park. If you’ve timed it right, you’ll arrive when the resident DJ is playing a cool al fresco set and you can sit happily watching the small ones play or practice their bike riding skills (they’ve a mini road layout!).

8 – Botanical Gardens

Found inside the Royal Victoria Park, the Botanical Gardens is a quiet (as good as secret) collection of flowers, trees and shrubs. Follow the winding paths all the way to the replica Roman temple…but don’t tell!

9 – Skyline Walk

As mentioned above, the now famed National Trust is a way-marked six miles of incredible views of Bath and beyond and technically not a park but miles of open space and wonderful views. Maps are available to download on the National Trust Website.

10 – The Georgian Garden

Less for roaming and more for historical interest and sight-seeing take a short stroll around this Georgian replica garden found between the Royal Crescent and Queens Square.
