Top Five – Bath’s Best Roasts

6th Feb 2023

Hands up if you think Autumn is in fact ‘awetumn’. Yep. It’s a fav here too and Bath is the perfect city for exploring when it is at its seasonally most colourful.

If your perfect Sunday is exploring the Bath Skyline followed by a roast lunch or dinner, then you are in great company. We like to think it’s one of our specialist subjects and we are happy to wax lyrical about the Sunday roast offering here in Bath. In truth, it’s impossible to truly narrow the list to 5 as there are a great many to choose from, but we will have a go! It’s a tough job, but someone must do it…

Our Five Favourites Sunday Roasts in Bath

  1. Best for families: The Hare & Hounds, Lansdown Hill. If you need space to eat and space for the little ones to run around too then The Hare & Hounds really is the perfect Sunday destination. It has the best views of Bath with outside seating and a climbing area for children. And if you need an excuse for all that intended indulgence then it’s a steep and fair walk to the top of Lansdown Hill but with great rewards!
  2. New kid on the block: The Rose & Crown, Larkall. New chef, new menu and winning fans, this family friendly pub, in one of Bath’s trendy suburbs. Gets the Bath Luxury Rentals thumbs up!
  3. All the meat: Castle Farm at Midford has quite the reputation for having one of the very best roasts for miles. The rustic setting is working farmland with many of the veg grown on site; you can quite literally taste the freshness and observe the team at work, creating their roasted masterpieces. Highly recommended.
  4. Get out of town: New to the scene The Forge & Fern on Staple Hill, in East Bristol (or South Gloucestershire) have made quite the splash since opening in the late summer and have just launched their Sunday Roast menu which we can say, with authority, is awesome. This beautiful Café Bar & Restaurant is just off the Bristol to Bath Cycle path if you like to earn your roast, alternatively the venue is well served by buses from central Bristol and Bath.
  5. Best view: Bathwick Boatman, take in the Avon at this Riverside Restaurant a 10-minute stroll from the centre of Bath. The Bathwick Boatman sits above a historic boating station and rowing clubhouse serving up a great view and an award-winning roast.

Enjoy and say we sent you!
