Bath Wins Best Dressed at Christmas!
5th Jan 2023
Bath is the perfect cityscape in the festive season with the Bath Christmas lights always a popular destination. But where can you view the best of the Bath Christmas Lights this year.
Bath has long ditched any multi-coloured lighting opting for in-keeping white chandelier type lighting that suits its Georgian backdrop and denotes an air of class. It has also put pay to any celebrity switch on event opting for a quiet lighting up of the city’s main areas. Less is more they say.
Milsom Street see’s the biggest Bath Christmas lights stretched right across this wide shopper’s mecca which will also light up your Instagram feed.
Southgate shopping centre has annually themed lights on its now famous walkways which is always a must see too. A ‘Merry Christmas from Southgate’ greets you at both the Brunel Square and Stall Street end.
Many of the quieter shopping areas have their own festive light themes. See Walcot Street, Margaret’s Buildings, Kingsmead Square and Widcombe for more festive lighting.
Brunel Square bucks the trend with its multi-coloured and hugely joyous tree greeting visitors from Bath Spa but The Bath Abbey area holds the biggest and best of the lights with the annual (and huge) Christmas tree installation in front of the Bath Abbey and Pump Rooms. A traditional tree with simple white lights that always looks impressive and with the Bath Christmas market back again this year, a much needed and special atmosphere.
We wish you a wonderful trip to Bath at Christmas.
